6th International Chopin's Competition for Children

6th International Chopins Competition for Children

The International Chopin's Competition for Children, organized by The Lower Silesian Philharmonic and The Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw is an expected event, from edition to edition held in increasing interest of the musical environment. Initiated in 1999 by prof. A. Chorosiński the artistic director of the Philharmonic at that time, was an answer to the need of support and promotion of young talented pianists. This feast of young talents makes two environments come in touch: music education of the lower degrees represented by the participants of the Competition and academic circles represented by jurors - reputable piano professors.
The Competition organisers set a difficult task to the participants, because next to the compulsory solo repertoire performed in 1st and 2nd stage of the Competition, all finalists are obliged to play one movement of piano concerto with accompaniment of the Symphony Orchestra. For many of them this experience is utterly new, but so precious indeed.
The Competition is held every three years. The current edition - already the sixth one will be held between 14 and 21 of November 2014. The young pianists will compete in two age groups (category A - up to 12 years old and category B - up to 15 years old). An enrolment should be submitted on the Application Form to 15th of September 2014.
